About Dr. Moroney

Dr. Marisa Moroney completed her undergraduate education at Georgetown University and her medical education at Northwestern University. She then completed both an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and a Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Moroney was drawn to a career in Gynecologic Oncology because of the unique way in which the field encompasses both surgical and medical oncology, providing comprehensive care to women with gynecologic malignancies. As part of this comprehensive care, she performs both robotic and laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery, as well as advanced ovarian cancer surgery including HIPEC procedures.

Her research goals involve clinical trial development in order to develop and test new treatments for gynecologic cancers. During her fellowship, she worked in the Benjamin Bitler lab to produce pre-clinical data for new targeted treatments for recurrent endometrial cancers. She also is involved in clinical research with aims to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Moroney is also dedicated to women’s health advocacy. She has worked with both the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) to advocate for expanded access to healthcare, improved women’s health standards, and increased funding for research on gynecologic cancers.

She joins our team as faculty in August 2022 - she will be practicing at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and the UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital.
