Dr. Kian Behbakht was interviewed by C3 Magazine, this month. In his interview, Dr. Behbakht looks back on what the past twenty years of ovarian cancer research and treatment looked like and what challenges he thinks may lie ahead in the field of ovarian cancer research.
Dr. Behbakht, professor and division chief for the University of Colorado, Division of Gynecologic Oncology, also discusses the dramatic change in ovarian cancer treatment over the years, and how research has led to a more methodical approach to treatment.
There has been some progress over the previous decade, but only in the past two years have we seen major developments. Targeted therapies and new uses of chemotherapy have dramatically improved treatment options, helping to push median survival past five years.
